A. First location, location, location is the key factor when finding the land, but most of all finding the professional people to work with is also a huge factor to make this project run smoothly.

Building the stall from the ground up
All barns need proper ventilation and light. Always make sure your electrical lights are not in harms way of the horse. That there are cages over the lights, and the wires are out of reach of the horse’s mouth.
For some reason horses seem to find there way into all kinds of trouble.
All stalls need proper footing, such as rubber mats. This allows comfort to the horse and easy cleaning to the owners.
For those horses that remain indoors more in the winter months, another thing to consider is anti cast strips in their stalls to decrease the risk of injury.
If you also plan on building the indoor arena, be sure to research the footing you will need in the indoor. And depending on the climate conditions, how you will maintain that thru out the colder seasons? In the hotter weather how will you control the dust? Also finding the proper equipment to maintain the footing is a must.
